Board of Directors
Chip was appointed to the NBLT Board of Directors in July of 2009. Prior to this action, Chip served the land trust in various capacities. In the summer of 2007 Chip worked tirelessly alongside other volunteers at the Noxen Depot, completing the installation of the tongue and groove walls. Chip has been a member of the Howland Preserve Management Committee as well.
A native of the Back Mountain, Chip has deep roots in this area—he’s a 1966 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. He then graduated from Mansfield University and returned home to become a teacher in the Lake-Lehman School District for 32 years. Before his retirement in 2003, Chip taught social studies electives at the high school as well as coached the wrestling and baseball teams there for most of his adult life. Today he is a wrestling coach for the high school team.
Not one to sit still, he is a part-time professional hunting guide. He continues to be active in many wildlife conservation organizations. His time is spent mostly with several chapters of Quality Deer Management as Habitat Chairman, as well as the National Wild Turkey Federation, and State Fox and Coyote Hunters Association. He was elected to the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, Chip is the founder of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Lake Lehman High School.
Chip lives in Loyalville with his wife, Vera. He has three grown children and four grandchildren.
