North Branch Land Trust’s 12th Annual River Trip is set for Saturday, July 21st. From Whites Ferry PFBC access to the Appletree PFBC access in Harding, this is an easy 9.6 mile paddle open to anyone and suitable for all levels of experience even beginners. This section of the Susquehanna is especially beautiful and quiet with mountain ridges, palisades and islands. Bring binoculars (bald eagles and peregrine falcons are nesting nearby), proper footwear for water, sunscreen, lunch, snacks and drinking water. West Falls will be the stop for lunch with an optional paddle to the mouth of Buttermilk Creek with a view to the lower falls nestled in a scenic hemlock gorge.
Endless Mountain Outfitters is the guide for this trip and they offer recreational kayaks, tandem kayaks and canoes for rent. The boats are very stable and user friendly. The recreational kayaks are $50 and tandem kayaks or canoes are $65 for the day. PFD’s and paddles are included. A lesson on how to kayak will be given. If you bring your own boat, registration for the event is $20 per boat. Please drop your boat at Whites Ferry and drive to West Falls to park.(if you require livery for your boat from West Falls there is an additional $5 charge.)

Prices include a donation to North Branch Land Trust. EMO will run a morning shuttle leaving West Falls PFBC access at 9:30 for put-in at Whites Ferry. All shuttle information can be found on EMO’s website. A brief talk about the river will be given at 10:00 with river launch at 10:30.
All boats need to have a PA Fish and Boat or DCNR permit or a PFBC registration.
