Harvey’s Harveyville Woodlot

Huntington Township •  4 Acres • By Appointment Only

Although only four acres in size, Harvey’s Harveyville Woodlot packs a punch with wildlife diversity. It hosts hundreds of plant and animal species. Native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers abound and at least 14 species of ferns have been noted, including the very uncommon walking fern. As many as 80 species of birds were observed from the Harvey property, with many using it as a migratory corridor.

History:

John Harvey can trace his family’s roots back to the 1600s. From these pioneer settlers in the Wyoming Valley, John has inherited a deep and abiding reverence for the lands that sustain us.

“The property has been in the Harvey family for centuries, and I wanted to find someone who would take care of it. The Land Trust has been a pleasure to work with over the past few years, and I thought they were a natural for the long-term stewardship of the land,” John Harvey says.
