History:

North Branch Land Trust took ownership of the Valmont Bog sanctuary in 2011. We worked closely with the owner CAN DO, Inc. along with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PPL Corporation, Native Orchid Society, and other stakeholders to make the project a reality.

In recent years, numerous organizations have studied the unique ecology of the Sanctuary including Longwood Gardens, the Native Orchid Society, the Smithsonian Institue, and more.
